Investors back jockeys, not horses.
Here's who's riding - and why the next ten years of pet care in India will be built on a system of record, not another marketplace.
Why this, why me.
I've spent the last decade building consumer software at the intersection of trust, compliance and multi-sided marketplaces. After watching three of my own pets shuffle between four vets and five paper vaccination cards, the gap became impossible to ignore: pet care has every ingredient of a category ready for an operating system, except the operating system.
FluffyPet is the company I wished existed when my Labrador needed continuity of care across cities. We're building it now because the next decade of Indian pet care will be defined by who owns the record - and we believe that should be the pet's family, not a walled-garden brand.
Why now.
- • India's pet population on track to hit 31M by 2027 - past early-adopter, pre-saturation.
- • DPDP Act 2023 finally creates a clean consent framework for medical records.
- • Vet chains, NGOs and insurers are independently asking for the same primitive: a portable record.
- • AI now makes triage and intake economical at the long tail.
